Different from carrier liability

Cargo insurance is governed by its wording, exclusions, deductible and declared route. A label such as full cover is insufficient.

Before departure

Declare goods, value, packing, route and intermediate storage. Confirm attachment/termination of cover and special-risk requirements.

Document damage

Keep photographs, packaging evidence and delivery exceptions. Notify insurer and carrier within applicable deadlines and obtain instructions before disposing of damaged goods.
