Packing list

Purpose

A packing list identifies the contents and physical characteristics of packages for carriage, handling and customs checks. It does not replace an invoice or transport document.

Useful fields

Include parties, order reference, package marks, contents, quantities, net/gross weight and dimensions. Identify the contents of individual pallets when practical.

Consistency

Reconcile totals with the transport document. Issue a controlled revision if packing changes and retire conflicting copies.
